"answer": "Bandwidth proofs. At a random moment each epoch, the beacon tells every key to pull a fresh 50 MB block, seeded by its own address, from 4 randomly chosen peers and return its hash within 10 s. That needs about 40 Mbps of real throughput per key, measured and signed by the peers who served it. A farm of 500 sybils behind one 1 Gbps line can only anchor about 25 of them, so the rest return a timeout instead of a hash. A key that misses 3 checks in 10 epochs earns zero. Even a whisper of shared uplink shows up as a clear signal: correlated slow replies.",
